DeepMix Guest DJAfter tagging along with Sean Berringer at South By Southwest many moons ago,
it quickly became apparent how important music was to this budding star of the
editorial world.
Music has always been an important ingredient in his approach to the construction and deconstruction of images. Here's a look at some gems on his iPod:
NewsFreelance producer Rachel Dunn has officially joined the crew at DeepMix. Currently based in Miami, she brings years of experience and a great depth of musical knowledge and good instincts to the mix. DeepMix partner Brad Colerick has a new record out this month entitled When I'm Gone. The album is currently #11 on the Euro-Americana chart. Check it out at iTunes or contact us at DeepMix and we'll send you a copy.Artist SpotlightWesley Pentz (DIPLO) has written, produced and remixed music for M.I.A., Santigold, Beck, Radiohead, and performed to sold-out audiences from Tokyo to Tel Aviv. With M.I.A., Pentz wrote the 2008 mega-hit “Paper Planes,” which earned a Grammy nomination for Record of the Year. His
production team Mad Decent has become a trendsetting force, helping to
introduce Brazilian Baile funk, Angolan Kuduro and other marginalized
music to clubs around the world. From dubstep to punk and beyond, Diplo
and Mad Decent have shown dynamic range that spans far beyond any
singular culture.
DeepMix recently collaborated with DIPLO on a project for Turkcell via Wieden + Kennedy Amsterdam. If you're lucky enough to be in Turkey, you can check them out on local TV. If your travels don't take you that far, you can view one of the spots below. Around TownWe have been eagerly awaiting the completion of the new W Hotel Hollywood, slated to open this fall. It was built directly over the Hollywood/Vine subway station, a stone’s throw from DeepMix offices. The entire area has been going through a major transformation. If you haven’t already, you need to check it out -- Hollywood is back! One great new restaurant/bar is Ivan kane’s Cafe' Was, a French bistro and piano lounge with an amazing atmosphere and menu (the carnivores among you must kick off your evening with the bacon wrapped dates!!). A slowly revolving piano in the center of the restaurant with various talented musicians at the helm is also a nice touch. We hosted a “DeepMixer” there recently and plan to be back again soon for another round.
